Student Spotlight

Located at the corner of College and Spadina, Waverley is the perfect rental community for students studying at some of Canada’s top universities. We recently sat down with two Waverley residents who are currently enrolled in academic programs at U of T and OCAD. We enjoyed engaging conversations about their academic pursuits and received feedback about their rental living experience at Waverley.

Kai Forcey-Rodriguez is in their second year of a Master of Education degree in Developmental Psychology and Education with a concentration in Special Education (Autism) and Mental Health at the University of Toronto-Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. “My goal is to be a parent educator for parents and siblings with children and adolescents with disabilities, a special education consultant, and/or therapist for autistic people and/or their families,” says Kai. “Honestly, I just wanted to make a positive difference for people like me and their families!”

Kai explained that the dedicated onsite hospitality team and residents at Waverley have provided a supportive environment as they pursue their graduate studies. Waverley’s proximity to U of T has also proven to be extremely beneficial. “As a newcomer to Canada, I was looking for a place where I could find my own community and be close to the University of Toronto campus and the OISE building,” said Kai. “I also loved knowing that I had easy access to public transportation and could walk to so many places in the city!”

While Kai’s favourite study spot at Waverley is the Lobby Lounge, there are also amenities that help them unwind, socialize, and relax. Kai especially enjoys taking in the great views from the penthouse level deck with a delicious organic beverage from Greenhouse Juice. They say, “a dear and wise friend of mine once told me, ‘Some of the simplest things, are the most fun things!’”

Sara Mango is a fourth year Graphic Design Student at OCAD University. Naturally, Sara was drawn to the branding and graphics of Waverley's hoarding during construction. She says, “I decided to look for an apartment close to my school, and to my luck, Waverley was the first link that popped up! I looked at the prices, layout, and amenities of the building and just knew this had to be my home!”

As a student, Sara spends most of her day studying in Waverley’s Lobby Lounge and Co-Working space. She enjoys the vibe of Waverley’s common areas, “I love working in an environment where other people are working. There is a café with a delicious smell of coffee and great music playing 24/7 which is a huge plus!” As for her favourite amenity, Sara loves The Temple, Waverley’s official Hammer Strength® fitness centre on the penthouse level. “It’s so great to go there and workout with the view of Toronto’s skyline!” Sara truly loves Waverley. To summarize her favorite aspects of rental life at Waverley, Sara commented “the staff, the amenities, the suites, the views, the events, and the location.” Sara is always recommending Waverley to her friends and family.
