Places to Visit in Chinatown

Walking just south of Waverley brings you to Chinatown, one of Toronto's most lively and exciting neighbourhoods with something for everyone.

Whether you want to spend a leisurely day exploring or are settling in for a fun evening with friends, here are the places you need to know about in Chinatown.

Places for Art Lovers

Just taking a stroll through Chinatown, you will encounter beautiful outdoor art installations and murals adorning the businesses throughout the neighbourhood. For a more formal art lover's experience, the renowned Art Gallery of Ontario is located right by Chinatown's eastern edge at Dundas Street West & Beverley Street.

Places for Foodies

Located down the street from The Waverley's front door, no trip to Chinatown is complete without a stop at Mother's Dumplings. Watch as chefs create your meal directly in front of you using recipes handed down through generations. Fudao's Noodle House is another Chinatown staple with a variety of fresh noodle dishes cooked in rich broth brewed for more than 10 hours before being served! For vegetarians who want a large Chinese food menu to choose from with no restrictions, Greens Vegetarian Restaurant is a must. For dessert, try Icha Tea, located right in the centre of Chinatown and serving a variety of loose-leaf teas, cakes, puddings, snacks, and more.

Places to Visit for Shopping & Entertainment

There is no shortage of exciting sights and places to visit in Chinatown. Sonic Boom Records offers a massive collection of vinyl records, books, merch, and more. Spend an afternoon browsing through the vinyl or stop in to sell your old records. For an exciting challenge, try Room Escape Adventures, where you and up to 11 others have to work together to escape a zombie chained to a wall in 60 minutes or less. For a night out to remember, try 8090 KTV, a vibrant karaoke bar with a large food and drink menu. Their private karaoke rooms can host up to 30 people at once!
