Curating a One-of-a-Kind Living Experience

From graffiti-lined streets and buildings to world-renowned galleries and museums, Toronto is one of the best cities in the world for soaking in culture and finding inspiration in the arts.

Waverley embraces that spirit by incorporating Toronto's rich history in music and the arts in areas ranging from design to community programming. As such, we at Waverley have commissioned vibrant curated pieces by some of the most exciting artists working both locally and abroad.

Ashley Mulvihill of Ninth Editions is curating Waverley's art collection. Ashley carefully considered the community's legendary historical roots, its unique location within the city, and its relationship to the eclectic surrounding neighbourhoods in selecting and commissioning pieces to live inside Waverley for years to come.

"Toronto is a forward-thinking city with an incredibly diverse community, and we wanted to reflect this in the collection of artists and artworks we're featuring," says Mulvilhill. "We thought a lot about the surrounding area and the history of the building, integrating subtle nods to the music legends who made their mark in the space, while introducing new materials and perspectives that speak to the ever evolving neighbourhood."

Featuring works from a roster of celebrated artists, Mulvihill's mission is to break the mold of what you would typically find in a residential building. The vision has been to introduce a wide variety of mediums and unexpected imagery to provide a completely unique art-viewing experience. You can allow yourself to be captivated by the neon work of Thrush Holmes, or enter the art piece yourself through Roxana Azar's mirrored installation. Get lost in large scale paintings by Malik McKoy, or look and be looked at by artist portraits from Dan Jamieson. Muse on what lays beyond the frame with playful photography by Shellie Zhang, or trace the mesmerizing shapes of a sky-high original mural by BirdO – all while enjoying a glass of wine at Boxcar Social in Waverley's lobby lounge.

Whatever moves you, you can find it at Waverley.
